My grandmother had a knack for getting these to bloom all year around. Mine blooms once a year, but it always reminds me of her.

I have a Christmas cactus that is beginning to show signs it might bloom this year. Tiny buds! So exciting.
I know — I almost prefer the look of the buds before they blossom.
I love these too. They always remind me of my mom.
Funny how this cactus, unlike any other cacti, evokes emotional connections. Thanks for stopping by.
We have two and they just bloomed. Didn’t think to capture them. Next year I will or I’ll just look at your nice shot.
Thanks John.
Fabulous!
Thanks!
Beautiful and what a wonderful reminder of your grandmother. Robyn
Thank you Robyn.
They always remind me of her as well.
Yours looks beautiful.
She would have loved it.
Thanks so much.
oh they’re so beautiful, are they really called christmas cactus… if so I didn’t realize there was such
Thank you Prem. Though referred to as Christmas cactus, they’re actually Schlumbergera.
Love them! Mine blooms a few times a year, but I don’t know why. Maybe it’s the location – it sits in a bay window that faces north and only gets sun in the late afternoon. Nice photo!
Thanks very much Joylene.
Awesome photograph, would make for a great holiday card.
Thank you Mary.
We have one about to bloom also. How funny, ill show mine soon.
Looking forward to it.
Some people have a green thumb for these plants. Not me. Nice photo.
Thank you.

One of my treasured memories is of my mother, just before Christmas, coming downstairs with cries of joy. She was carrying a huge Christmas cactus that had been languishing unattended in a closed room. It completely covered with riotous fuchsia flowers.
It’s nice how sometimes photography can remind us of the people and things we love. I have an air plant that is suposed to bloom at Christmas but I can only seem to get it to bloom every other year.
¡Que belleza!, me encanta el desenfoque, besos
Gracias Manoli.
